Theme : Destroy the World

Calm Destruction

I first looked into what kind of games explore the theme of destruction mainly in 2d.

Rampage 1986 was the first game that caught my eye, Being a huge monster that could destroy a small town seemed like an idea would lend itself to modernization.

My spin on rampages formula was to make the town out of individual pixel-like units. I created a few test buildings and a simple character. I wanted the character to attack and the ‘Pixels’ to react believably, but this was much beyond my capabilities at the time. I also found that creating a building in this way was extremely tedious and would become too laggy if created with even a small amount of detail.

I decided to create only one object to destroy, which i decided to make the Earth itself as it seemed the most interesting in a void.

As i was testing the how the ‘pixels’ would react to getting hit – I had coded them to react to my mouse, playing around with this system, it reminded me of a lot of popular games in the mobile market. I decided this was the direction i wanted to take.

The game finally reached the stage it is currently in, with two levels – The Earth and The Moon.

Potential Improvements â€“ Some Vfx for the collisons                                                        between the pixels

More responses from the                                                        pixels from hitting the ends                                                      of the levels
