Village Simulation

We were tasked with creating a game on simulations. The idea that clung to me the most was the result of spending my times modding skyrim. I always liked mods that give the citizens meaningful routines. I wanted to create a village that was self sufficient and automatically expanding.

first week prototype

In order to create a self sufficient village, I thought I first needed to create a system of jobs that feeds into itself for this, 3 main jobs were created - a farmer, a miner and a blacksmith.

I worked to incorporate the basic three jobs myself before I had teammates

I soon had a team of 4 with two coders and an artist. I worked closely with the main programmer on the behaviors of the villagers and their balancing. I was responsible of updating and implementing changes made by the team into the final build of the game every week as a technical game designer.

Adding layers

Once the simulation side of the game was set in stone, we as a team ideated on the players role within the game. We decided that the player could choose the manipulate the village by spawning monsters

conclusion

At the end of the project, the village and the villagers within are quite interesting to watch and follow but the gameplay side of the project ended up being guide shallow. But I am still quite proud of what we were able to accomplish as a team with this project
