Qiyana joins the fight

Qiyana is a tricky rushdown that leverages the elements to create a variety of situations. Qiyana has a medium walkspeed with a dash like VI in multiple directions.

Qiyana gains an element depending on the direction she dashes in with her S1 suite, this element effects all her specials creating unique situations for both the defending player and Qiyana.

Qiyana is a high mobility champion who excels at creating strong left – right mix with the addition of her unique pressure.

Normals &Command Normals

Qiyana has stubby Ls and Ms but Has slow far reaching Heavies.

Qiyana has no overhead, she does however have an air hop that could be used to create an instant overhead situation

Qiyana also has a command normal anti air that also has special effects depending on her current element

Specials

4/5/6 S2 – Terrashape  : Deals no damage, this is the core of Qiyanas kit a command dash that gives her different elements

 

6S2 TerraShape(Earth) : Qiyana dashes forward gaining the earth element, Qiyana passes through the opponent if close enough. Earth based reactions are counted separately, allowing Qiyana to at max get 3 major reactions(4 for a limitstrike) instead of the regular 2

5S2 TerraShape(Grass) : Qiyana does a short hop diagonally up and forwards and gains the grass element, she cannot hop over normal height opponents.

4S2 TerraShape (Water) : Qiyana dashes backwards and gains the water element

6S1(AirOk) Edge of Ixtal : When Qiyana does not have an element this special comes out faster but loses its ranged component and has no special effects

Earth – Wall bounces the opponent on hit (earth reaction)

Water – Slow moving, freezeing projectile. Acts like Barums Iceball but Qiyanas projectile slows all movement instead of stopping it. When the frozen opponent hits a wall or floor, they shatter taking a little damage and being put in a forced knockdown state

Grass – Qiyana teleports a fixed distance from her position in the direction that her ringblade was throw

2S1 Audacity : Qiyana slides through the opponent and has to be blocked crouching. Can be spaced to end same side

3S2 Regal Punishment : Spins the ringblade infront of qiyana, when she has no element it has no special property and onnly comes out slightly faster

Earth – Spins the ringblade causing a ground bounce can OTG (Earth reaction)

Water – Spins the ringblade for an extended period of time allowing Qiyana to move during this move. Qiyana can only use throw and Audacity (along with all movement) Qiyana can pass through the ringblade to end the move early and regain all her attacks. Works great as a tag out move

Grass – Spins the ringblade for a short time in place, players, projectiles or entities that pass through the area gain invisiblity. Qiyana recovers her weapon if she passes through it. Invisible projectiles will become visible in .5 s or upon contact with an enemy entity

Supers

S1 Super – Wrath of  Ixtal (Air Ok) – Throw the ringblade as it is overcharged with a random element (Tracks like akali Shuriken super)

The Earth element does major damage and triggers a major reaction, this move can never limit strike

The Water element does less damage, but covers the floor in Ice, Makes both characters move like they are on Ice

The Grass element deals no damage but gives qiyana a permanent move speed buff for the rest of the round, this effect becomes progressively weaker if gained again

S2 Super – Supreme Display of  Talent  : Qiyana creates an wave of explosions along the point of impact reminiscent of her League Ult (also similar to Barums S1 super) in a diagonal from her location, these explosions must complete a full loop of the Map before it stops or has to be parried. The explosions can be jumped over

S1+S2 – Royal Arrogance : Anti air level 3 (whiffs on grounded medium ranged opponents like yasuo lvl 3)

Assists

4T – Has identical properties as 3H, Important to remember that the current element has a major impact on this normal

 5T: Identical to Regal Punishment

combo Theory

Understanding how to use Terrashape is the most important part of playing Qiyana. Keeping track of which element you have currently and understanding how to use the element you have access to in a scramble are all unique situations you would be in while playing Qiyana.

The Earth element allows Qiyana to cash out on big damage and create combo extensions where no other character could.

She has strong oki with the water element with a slow moving projectile, and regal punishment’s screen presence.

The Grass elements has unique properties across its skillset that can catch sleeping opponents off guard.

Design Goals

The main design goals I wanted to hit to match her gameplay in league were:

  • highly technical character with a focus on her elements

  • High mobility

  • Has a lot of varied unique tools that come together in a cohesive way
